Des Moines Iowa Citizens for Community Improvement Action Fund (CCI Action) has announced that Senator Bernie Sanders will deliver the keynote speech at their annual convention this summer.
The July 15th event will be the first time that Senator Sanders has returned to Iowa since the 2016 election. In addition to his keynote speech, the convention will feature issue-focused organizing workshops, speeches from other movement leaders, and celebrations of CCI Action victories from the past year.
"We like Bernie's style of politics and want to see more campaigns like his. He mobilized tens of thousands of Iowans around a strong economic justice message and emphasized the importance of building a people's movement to challenge and change big money, business-as-usual politics," said Barb Kalbach, president of the CCI Action board of directors. "We are very excited to have him back in Iowa this July to discuss how we can continue the political revolution here in the pivotal state of Iowa."
